The Children of Henry and Elizabeth Branscomb:
Henry Will Branscomb (“Dick”)

Please check the Author's Notes for an explanation of the numbering system I use for identifying individuals within any family.

The line of descent for Henry Will Branscomb is:

9. Henry Will Branscomb (“Dick”)

Dick was born 17 October 1851 in the city of Macon, Macon County, Mo.; he died 30 May 1928. Md. 1 January 1870 Susan Frances Snedigar (book 2, p. 2). Susan was born 28 August 1854, and she died 24 August 1949; both bur. Pleasant Home Cem. Susan was the daughter of Francis (Frank) Snedigar and Abigail Lewellyn. The 1860 census for Putnam County shows the Snedigar family on p. 398, dwelling #412. The 1880 census (Vol. 27, ED 24, Sheet 5, line 38) shows Henry as age 38 (28?), Susan as 27, and children Lucille, age 7, and Mattie M, age 1. Mattie md. 14 April 1897 William L. Pike, son of George Pike (Book 3, p. 314). The cemetery book shows Nettie B. Jewett, nče Branscomb (b. 7 May 1871, d. 7 June 1935), bur. Pleasant Home Cem. A photograph of Henry Will and Susan includes a granddaughter Icie Jewett, so it is likely that Nettie was another daughter of Henry Will and Susan. (CEB writes that Nettie Branscomb md. John Calhoun and Alden Jewett. He names Bertie as a third child of Henry Will and Susan.)

As shown by the index to Putnam County deeds, Henry Branscomb’s father-in-law Francis Snedigar deeded land to him on 5 September 1885. On 14 August 1886 Susan F. Branscom gave a quit claim deed to Rebecca Wood, and on 17 October 1890 she gave a warranty deed to John M. West. These deeds have not yet been explored further.

Note: The following named book is cited in the text by the author's initials, "CEB." Branscome, Cletie Elroy--"Branscom, Branscome, Branscomb, Branscombe." Laurel Fork, Va.: published by the author (1966).
